Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 April 2019 AND Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th April 2019.  

It is the seventh Go Wild With Weaving Workshop, held in beautiful Golden Bay, New Zealand.  

For 2019, our line-up is 10 x 2-day workshops which cater for varying levels of weaving expertise.  Each workshop features different techniques or different natural materials, such as willow, flax, cabbage tree leaves, and wire ....plus whatever you want to bring! .  You will learn how to weave your own creations, meet loads of new people and have some great fun for yourself.

GW1. GO SHOPPING

GW4.  GO NESTING

Create random weave nests using driftwood and natural fibres such as Muehlenbeckia, Cane, Raffia and Kiekie.  A chance to learn how to use unconventional methods to create a piece that derives its expression from the materials used, and to learn how to prepare and use the climbing bush plant, Kiekie.

Make these fun decorative pieces or even jewellery using a variety of knotless netting technqiues, with wire, waxed thread or dyed kiekie, with Australian weaver Ann McMahon.

GW2. GO TWINING

Make several beautiful baskets from NZ flax/harakeke using weaving. plaiting and twining techniques. No flax preparation required.

You will be able to make one or two baskets, with or without handles, with or without lids.

Tutor: Sarah Hornibrooke, professional craft tutor and experienced weaver.

GW5. GO STITCHING

Fully booked, sorry.

Using techniques from the pine needle basket tradition, learn the ancient craft of coiling and stitching.

Experiment with a range of natural materials, such as Cabbage Tree Leaves, Corn Leaves, Pine Needles and Dracophyllum. 

Decorate with feathers or beads or whatever else you fancy.

Tutor: Deb Price, celebrated artist and experienced basketry tutor.

Make exciting art feathers.  Enjoy weaving with recycled copper wire and the effects that can be achieved through treatments and salts. We will look at natural forms in nature and create our own armatures to weave over. Then working with thin soft copper wire you will learn weaving techniques to complete your sculptures.

On completion you will have the opportunity to experiment with different finishes to colour your copper pods.

Learn wrapping and coiling with varied fibres and/or fabric materials with Deb Price.  And also experiment with Stitching techniques.

COSTS FOR  ALL 2019 COURSES

The full fee of each course is $320, payable by 28/2/19.  No refunds are possible after this date. 

An early bird deal of $290 is available if the whole fee is paid by 31/12/18.

An immediate, non-refundable $100 deposit is required to secure your place.  

To make sure you have a chance to socialise and meet like-minded people,  two buffet lunches for students and tutors are included in the price.

Price includes tuition, materials and two buffet lunches.  Some tools may be needed, information will be sent out when you register.

Venue and Timing

Each day runs from 9.30-4.30, with an hour for lunch,  at the Collingwood Area School, Collingwood, Golden Bay, NZ.

Meals

Lunches will be a buffet lunch at the school.  We will cater for gluten free, vegetarian and vegans.  Please speak to me about other requirements.

This year the evening meal will be at the Wholemeal Cafe in Takaka.  The cost has not been included in the fees, so you can choose what you like on the menu, and pay direct.     https://wholemealcafe.co.nz/
