GW1 Go Shopping With Maureen Harte 

Flax will be provided.

All Students to bring scissors,  a 'bread & butter knife', (non-serrated) 12 Spring type clothes pegs, an old towel and cotton garden glove/s.

To finish your shopping basket, you can make a decorative flax koru and if you have interesting pieces of driftwood, paua, antler horn, buttons to use for decoration....bring them along too.

 

GW2 and GW8 Go Twining with Sarah Hornibrooke

Flax and Tools to share will be provided.

Students to bring: A strong BIG pair of sharp scissors and a very large eyed, sharp darning needle.

Some optional tools and equipment to bring are a plastic sheet or old towel and LARGE lockable craft knife.

 

GW3 and GW9    Go Copper With Jasmine Clark

Copper wire and "transforming chemicals" will be provided.  

Please bring with you some safety glasses, long nose pliers and side cutters.

 

GW4 Go Nesting With Ann McMahon

Weaving materials, driftwood will be provided plus a selection of strong cord, coloured string, raffia, wire, coloured fabric.

Learn two useful and fun techniques, random weave and cobbling, for making sculptural, conceptual or functional forms. 

Equipment

Participants should bring sturdy scissors, and heavy, large eyed needles.

Materials

Students are encouraged to bring attractive and meaningful items to use including, textile scraps, ribbons, yarn, plant materials or small found objects. You may also wish to bring some strong cord, interesting string or coloured and textured fabric and found materials such as sticks, dried grass, leaves, flowers, shells, seedpods or small objects for embellishment.

 

GW5  Go Stitching with Deb Price

Materials and a darning needle will be provided.  

Please bring with you some Craft scissors, to cut tough fibres like cabbage tree leaves and optionally, a Darning (blunt ended) or tapestry(size 20) needle(s) if you have them.

If you want to use special materials...cotton, silk for your piece 

Plus embellishments like shells, feathers, beads etc

Also, please wear comfortable clothes and possibly a cushion to sit on -optional - for the floor or hard school chairs.

 

GW6a  Go Willow with Peter Greer  and GW6b Go Willow With Nicola Basham

Willow and lots of tools will be provided.

Students to bring an old towel, pair of sharp secateurs, a hand held sprayer and a large piece of plastic so the willow stays moist overnight, if at all possible.  Also, if you have a lockable knife, please bring it.  If not, dont worry.

 

GW7 Go Netting With Ann McMahon

Weaving materials, a selection of coloured wire, thread and string will be provided.

Learn two starting methods for this useful knotless netting technique; circular and from an edge. Students will be able to apply their knowledge to practicing with different sizes and types of material. 

 

Equipment

Participants should bring sturdy scissors, and heavy, large eyed needles.

Materials

Students are encouraged to bring a favourite thread (waxed linen is excellent), fine wire, fabric strips, raffia, string or other linear material. You may also wish to bring some beads or other decorative items to finish the work.

 

GW10 Go Wrapping  and Stitching With Deb Price

I will supply plant fibre for wrapping (harakeke) and core material (cabbage tree)

 

Participants to bring:

Craft scissors to cut tough fibres like cabbage tree leaves

Large eyed blunt needle - the type used for stitching knitting together: up to 6-7 cm length with 1-2 cm eye length (can be purchased at craft supply stores)

secateurs (optional)

Shells, feathers, beads, "focal" features for decoration (optional)

 

Option of using fabric instead of plant fibre for wrapping - Participants can bring:

fabric (new or recycled) for making wrapping strips from (ideally up to a metre in length) eg: 

cotton (sheet weight) 

stretch cotton (tee shirt material)

silk, etc.
